Ana Brochado is the President of Direção Regional do Centro e Alentejo of Ordem dos Economistas. She is an economist and associate professor (with habilitation) of management at ISCTE – Lisbon University Institute and a researcher at DINAMIA’CET -Centre for Socioeconomic and Territorial Studies. She served as the Vice Dean for administrative affairs and Vice Dean for faculty for five years (ISCTE Business School) and coordinated the PhD in Tourism Management. She joined the General Council of ISCTE. She worked for more than one decade as Senior Economist for the Portuguese Competition Authority (AdC) and the Securities Commission (CMVM). She holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics, a Master of Science in Quantitative Methods, a PhD in Management.

Ana Rita Antunes
Ana Rita Antunes is an environmental engineer from Universidade Nova de Lisboa, with a master’s degree in energy efficiency from the same university, a founding member and currently Executive Coordinator at Coopérnico – the first renewable energy cooperative in Portugal – and a member of the General Council of the environmental association “ZERO – Associação Sistema Terrestre Sustentável”, a non-governmental environmental organisation with national activity.

Christos Stefanatos holds a MSc in Mechanical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens. Christos worked for EuroEnergy SA, where he monitored Solar Plants of 85 MW in total capacity. Currently, within Parity Platform, he leads the development of EV LOADER, an electric vehicle charging station management app active in Greece that facilitates transactions in 300 locations in Greece. The company’s R&D department is also participating in Horizon EU projects in the themes of AI applications for Demand Forecasting in the Electricity Grid, Cybersecurity for EV Charging infrastructure and Electricity Grid Demand Response. Christos has been selected as Sigma Squared EU fellow in 2019 and Forbes 30U30 2021 in Greece.

Irina Mihaela Minciuna joined the European Commission in 2008 and is currently leading the hydrogen infrastructure team in the Directorate General for Energy. In the past years Irina was involved in the legislative drafting and implementation of the trans-European Energy Infrastructure Regulation in the area of electricity and natural gas cross-border infrastructure. Previously Irina worked as system development adviser at the European Network transmission System operators for the Electricity (ENTSO-E). She holds a power engineering degree and a master in the energy and environment.

Isabel Soares is Full Professor of Economics, currently EMERITUS Professor of the University of Porto. She has a Ph.D. (Doctorat D’État ès Sciences Economiques) in Energy Economics from the University of Strasbourg, A post-graduation in Energy Economics from the Ettore Majorana Center for Scientific Culture/University of Harvard, a Post-Doc in VPI – Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and MIT. Visiting Professor: University of Grenoble, Università Degli Studi di Torino, University of S. Paulo, Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, University of Coruña, University of Vigo, Norwegian School of Economics (Bergen), VPI – Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Freie Universität Berlin, among others. Former President (2018 – 2021), currently Vice-President of the Portuguese Association for Energy Economics (APEEN), Portuguese affiliate of IAEE – International Association for Energy Economics. She is Subject Editor (Energy Economics) of ENERGY (Elsevier), member of the Editorial Board of the INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF SUSTAINABLE ENERGY PLANNING AND MANAGEMENT (Aalborg University), GREEN FINANCE (AIMS Press), ENERGIES (MDPI) and FRONTIERS IN ENVIRONMENTAL ECONOMICS – section Energy Economics. Jerónimo Meira da Cunha
Jerónimo Cunha holds a licentiate and master degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Faculty of Science and Technology of the Nova University of Lisbon. He complemented his training with a Postgraduate Degree in Sustainable Energy Systems (MIT Portugal Program) and with the International Training Seminar on Climate Change Policies National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
Previously, he was Director for Energy and Resources at Ernst & Young, Deputy in the Secretary of State for the Environment and Energy, Specialist at the Office of the Secretary of State for Energy, Coordinator at ADENE – Energy Agency, Technical Advisor for Energy Planning and Supply Security at DGEG (from 2009 until 2017) and Project Manager at EFACEC (2008 / 2009).

João Lagarto has a BSc. degree in Energy Engineering and Power Systems and a degree in Electrical Engineering – Industrial Automation and Power Systems from the Instituto Superior de Engenharia de Lisboa. He holds a PhD in Sustainable Energy Systems (MIT-Portugal program) from Instituto Superior Técnico. He is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Energy and Automation at the Instituto Superior de Engenharia de Lisboa in the area of power systems. He has published works on modelling and simulation of electricity markets and power systems.

João Maciel is Managing Director of NEW – Centre for New Energy Technologies / EDP centre for R&D. He was former Technology Development Director at EDP Inovação. João served on the Board of other EDP R&D initiatives, namely the WindFloat Project. He has 20+ years of experience in working in the energy sector. João holds a degree in Electrical Engineering – Power Systems from Lisbon University, an MBA from Portuguese Catholic University and advanced management studies from the London Business School.

ISEL / APEEN President
Jorge Sousa holds an undergraduate and master degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Instituto Superior Técnico and a PhD in Economics from NOVA SBE. He is Professor at Lisbon Polytechnic University since 1998 and senior researcher at INESC-ID in power systems and energy markets modelling and simulation, risk management, sustainable mobility, hydrogen systems, and renewable energy. He is President of APEEN, the Portuguese Association for Energy Economics. He has been President of ISEL (2016 to 2020) and Head of the Electrical Engineering Department (2014-2016). From 2008 to 2011 he has been appointed associate researcher of the MIT Center for Energy and Environmental Policy Research (CEEPR).
Graduated in Electrical Engineering from the Instituto Superior de Engenharia de Lisboa (ISEL), Master and PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Instituto Superior Técnico. Professor since 1995 at ISEL in the area of Electronic and Telecommunications and Computer Engineering. He has more than 70 publications, including chapters from books and international journals and more than 4000 citations. He has served as principal investigator for several projects and as co-chair of conferences in his area of research.

Ordem dos Engenheiros
Lídia Santiago graduated in Chemical Engineering from the Instituto Superior Técnico de Lisboa in 1978. He completed his master’s degree at the Technical University of Lisbon, in Food Science and Technology and has taken several courses, namely in Human Resources Management and Management Business and Finance. She was a professor at the Faculty of Engineering of Luanda, a guest professor at the Higher School of Health Technology in Lisbon and is currently an Adjunct Professor at the Instituto Superior de Engenharia de Lisboa. She has been National Vice-President of the Ordem dos Engenheiros and President of the Admission and Qualification Council of the Ordem dos Engenheiros since 2019. In the past she coordinated and belonged to several Specialization and Food Engineering committees of the Ordem dos Engenheiros. She has been a member of INWES (International Network Women Engineers and Scientists belonging to WFEO) since 2017. Lately she has been dedicated to gender issues in engineering, having created the network of “Ingenieras Luso Hispânicas” in 2020 and the network of “Engenheiras Portuguesas” with around 500 elements. She collaborates on the “Engenheira por um dia” program and has participated in several lectures. She organizes several events that highlight the participation of women engineers in society, namely the International Network Women Engineers and Scientists and International Women in Engineering Day.

Margarita Robaina, holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Aveiro and is a member of the Governance, Competitiveness and Public Policy Research Unit (GOVCOOP), in the Competitiveness, Innovation and Sustainability group. Its areas of interest are Energy Economics, Environmental and Natural Resources Economics, Energy and Environmental Policy and General Equilibrium Models. She is Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics, Management, Industrial Engineering and Tourism (DEGEIT) at the University of Aveiro since 2011. She held the positions of Vice-director of the Master in Management and Planning in Tourism, Director of the Master in Sustainable Energy Systems and member of the Executive Committee of the Department. She is currently Tutor of the Course of Economics in the Program of Mentoring at the University of Aveiro, Vice-director of the Course of Economics and Vice Director of the PhD Program in Energy systems and Climate change.
Nuno de Souza e Silva
Nuno de Souza e Silva currently leads R&D Nester, the Research Center for Energy from REN and State Grid working under the motto “Creating a Smart Energy Future”, dealing mainly with international research and innovation project on Renewable Energy integration, Smartgrids, Power Systems simulation and Energy Markets. He obtained an MSc. in Electrotechnical Engineering by Instituto Superior Técnico, Portugal, an MBA from Universidade Nova de Lisboa, and a graduation from the Florence School of Regulation on Regulation of the Power Sector. Was the National Representative of the CIGRE National Committee for Study Committee C5 on Markets and Regulation from 2018-2022, and is a member of the European ETIP-SNET, the European Technology Innovation Platform – Smart Networks for Energy Transition, providing advice to the European Commission on R&D and Innovation prorities. As Country Manager of KEMA (currently DNV-GL), he provided consultancy for the energy sector in Portugal and abroad.

Nuno Moreira is PhD in Industrial Engineering and Management and as a BSc in Mechanical Engineering. He is currently CEO of Dourogás SGPS, one of the most innovative and important companies in the Portuguese sector of natural gas, hydrogen, and other renewable gases. Among other works, stand out, as Chairman of SG Natural Gas-Industrial Utilization Committee in IGU- International Gas Union; Vice President of Colab Bioref – Collaborative Laboratory for Biorefineries; Coordinator in the Energy Specialization of the Portuguese Engineers Order, Board member and Portugal representant of Gasnam- Iberian Association for the use of natural gas, hydrogen and renewable gas in mobility.
Nuno Pinho da Silva
Nuno Pinho da Silva, Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering, is senior researcher at R&D Nester. He is invited professor at ISEL and convener of the ENTSO-E working group “Research, Development and Implementation Plan”. Nuno contributes to the ETIP-SNET working group “Innovation Implementation in the Business Environment” and to the APDSI “AI mission group”. He is member of the Portuguese professional association of Engineers.

Pedro Carvalho is a Full Professor of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Instituto Superior Técnico and an Adjunct Professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University, USA. He is a recognized researcher in the areas of analysis, operation and planning of electrical power distribution systems and an entrepreneur in the development of software for the electric power sector, having developed products with international acceptance by the industry. He is a senior researcher of the Sustainable Power Systems Group of INESC-ID, Lisbon, Portugal, where he is the strategic coordinator of the Energy Transition thematic line.

Pedro Furtado holds a Mechanical Engineering degree (Applied Thermodynamics and Fluid Dynamics) by Instituto Superior Técnico. He is Director of Studies and Regulatory Affairs at REN – Redes Energéticas Nacionais for Electricity and Gas infrastructure, European Energy Affairs, and Renewable Gases Planning. For 29 years embraced multiple responsibilities as manager in the energy sector and 20 on regulatory affairs, also supervises a team handling the energy transition challenges where REN infrastructure readiness for hydrogen is central.

Pedro Neves Ferreira
EDP Head of Energy Management
Pedro Neves Ferreira holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico (IST, Lisbon), an MBA from INSEAD (France) and an Advanced Management Program from Kellogg (USA). Pedro started his professional career in 1998 as a consultant with McKinsey & Company, working in engagements in the energy, telecoms and retail sectors. From 2001 to 2002 he worked as a senior consultant with Diamond Cluster in engagements in Portugal, Spain and Belgium. He joined EDP in 2003 in the Energy Planning Department, which he led starting 2007. Since 2014 he also headed the Corporate Risk Management Department. Since 2022, he is Head of the Global Energy Management Unit at EDP, responsible for managing the merchant exposure globally.
E-Redes Senior Manager
Ricardo Prata has a PhD in Engineering and Public Policy (Lisbon University), with a thesis dedicated to the challenges faced in designing the regulatory framework under growing wind and solar generation deployment, which won the award of the Portuguese Renewal Energy Association (APREN), in 2018’s edition. He works at E-REDES as a Senior Manager, being responsible for the Asset Management Area of that company. His career, already spanning more than 25 years, has been dedicated to electrical energy distribution network planning and asset management. He is a member of CIRED’s Technical Committee, as a Rapporteur for Session 5 – Planning of Power Distribution Systems.

Siemens Head Sales of Smart Infrastructure
Rui Leal has a Degree in Electrical Engineering – Power Systems (IST). He started his professional career in EDP where was responsible for the implementation of the distribution substation remote control system in the Southern part of the country. He joined Siemens in 1988 and was responsible for Industrial Automation Business till 2001. Then he took the responsibility for the Power Transmission and Distribution in 2001 within Siemens Energy Sector. As we speak, he is the Head Sales of Smart Infrastructure within Siemens Portugal.
